The SSC CHSl tier 2 exam, taken by the Staff Selection Commission is a pen and paper mode descriptive type exam consisting of a total of 100 marks. Students can easily score decent marks in this exam if they prepare well and practice the topics properly for the essay. Students will be asked an essay of around 200-250 words and one letter (either formal or informal letter) of approximately 150-200 words. This paper has been introduced to assess the writing skills of the candidates which are necessary for Government jobs.
Syllabus of SSC CHSL tier 2 exam
For Essay:
The topics asked in this exam will be related to:- Topics of National Interest: Examples of topics include "Food security", "Electrification of villages" etc.
- Finance & Economy: Examples of topics include "The rising GDP of India and its impacts on the common man", "The importance of paying income tax" etc.
- Ecological Issues; Examples of topics include "Protecting the rich biodiversity of India', "Project Tiger: its significance for the nation" etc.
- Social Issues: Examples of topics include "Women empowerment: How close are we in achieving complete gender equality?", "Ensuring social security for our elders" etc.
- Politics, Schemes, and Governance: Examples of topics include "Pradahan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana: The need and significance of the scheme", "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao", etc.
- Technology: Examples of topics include "The success story of the Indian Space Research Organization", "Cyber Security: A new challenge for Indian Security forces", etc.
- Sports: Examples of topics include "Football in India", "Performance of India in Olympics; How can we improve" etc.
- Geopolitics: Examples of topics include "The diplomatic presence and power of India", "Indo-US relations: the way ahead" etc.
- Environmental Concerns: Examples of topics include "Industrialization and the environment: Striking a balance", "Solar Energy: a ray of hope" etc.
For Letter part:
- You will be required to write a letter which can be either:
- A formal letter, or
- An informal letter
- Important: Please note, that you must not write any details which are not mentioned in the question paper in the letter or essay. This includes both real and imaginary details. This may result in you getting 0 marks under Unfair Means rules. For safety reasons, don't even write xyz, abc, 11xxxx, etc anywhere on the paper.
Other important points related to the SSC CHSL tier 2 exam
- The minimum qualifying marks is at 33%.
- The duration of the paper will be of one hour.
- The marks obtained in this exam will be added to the final merit list.
- The paper must be completely written in either Hindi or English. Papers that are written in Part English, Part Hindi will be rejected.
