SSC CHSL Exam Day Instructions, Documents and Dress Code 2019-20


Lakhs of Students will take the SSC online exam of the SSC CHSL exam organized by the Staff Selection Commission across various test centres across the nation. Students, especially the first time candidates of the SSC exam generally seem confused about the various documents needed to be taken on the day of the SSC CHSL exam, the dress code for SSC CHSL exam and things that are prohibited inside the exam hall in the SSC CHSL exam of the SSC recruitment. In this article, we have tried to address all these doubts.

Important Documents to Carry at the SSC CHSL exam centre

Admit card:

Candidates of the SSC CHSL exam should take a printout of their SSC CHSL admit card in a clear A-4 sized paper with a proper printer and carry it to the exam centre. Make sure your details and photograph are clearly visible on the SSC CHSL admit card printout.

Identity proof:

SSC asks for Identity proof from the candidates so as to confirm the candidate's identity.  Following are the documents which can be carried by candidates as their identity proof:

  • Aadhaar card: If you carry aadhaar card as your identity proof. You have to carry a hard copy of your aadhaar card. Xerox or photocopy will not be accepted. Original aadhaar card will be valid. Also, it is obvious that the mobile-based m-Aadhaar will not be accepted.
  • Pan card: You may present your original pan card as identity proof on the exam centre.

  • Voter's card: You may also present your original voter's card, also known as EPIC card as ID proof.

  • Passport: Passports are one of the valid document for identification for all SSC examinations.

  • Driving Licence: driving licence are also valid as identification purpose.

  • E-aadhaar card: aadhaar cards generated online will also be valid and can be used for this purpose.
Note: You need to carry only one of the above-mentioned documents as ID proof.

Please don't bring ration card or xerox copy of any document as ID proof as they are not accepted as ID proof in exam centres of Staff Selection Commission Exam.

What if name in ID card is not same as in admit card ? 


Please note that in case you have changed your name in past due to any reason and new name in admit card does not match with ID card you can present the following documents.

  1. Newspaper cutting
  2. Gazette notification
  3. Affidavit
  4. Marriage certificate ( in case you have changed your name after marriage).

Photographs

Candidates also need to carry two passport-sized recent colour photographs for the SSC CHSL exam.

SSC CHSL Dress Code:

There is no official dress code for the SSC CHSL exam, as the Staff Selection Commission haven't said anything about the Staff Selection Commission Exam for the Higher Secondary Level. But there exist some dress code instructions for the SSC CGL exam and based on those instructions, we advice the following dress code to be followed by the SSC CHSL exam candidates:
  • Avoid full sleeve clothes
  • Avoid clothes with big buttons on them
  • Wear open footwear like sleepers and sandals instead of shoes
  • Try to wear simple and light coloured clothes
  • Female candidates can wear traditional or western clothing, but they must ensure that the clothes do not have metal and they follow the above conditions.
  • Avoid wearing jewellery (for both male and female candidates)

  • Candidates are instructed to wear face masks by Staff Selection Commission for the SSC CHSL 2019 exam.
  • The temperatures will be taken by thermo guns.
  • Candidates have to bring their own small Sanitizer bottle in the exam.
  •  The candidates can bring a water bottle. They are explicitly instructed to make sure the bottle is transparent (see through)
  • It is also advisable that the sanitizer bottle should not have anything written on it. We advise the students to scratch off the branding material on the sanitizer bottle.
  • The pen and paper will be provided by the exam center. The rough paper for calculation will be dropped off at the table of the candidates.
  • The students who will show symptoms of fever, cough etc. will be allowed to give the exam. However, such students will be made to sit in separate rooms in isolated condition.

Things not to take in the SSC CHSL exam:

  • Any kind of stationery including pens, bits of papers, any printed material etc. You will be given a pen and a rough sheet of paper in the exam hall.
  • Any kind of jewellery item.
  • Electronic devices like mobile phone, pager, BlueTooth devices, earphone etc. Taking these items will force the Staff Selection Commission from banning you from their exams and may also land you in legal trouble!
  • Food and beverage items.
  • Wristwatches

So, in summary, students should take the following items in the SSC CHSL exam:

  • Printout of Admit card
  • Identity proof documents
  • Passport Size photographs (2 copies)
